How it works
Follow one project. See how it comes together.
Calga Bronte is an illustrative project: a family home in Bronte being renewed for Daniel and Katie. Each chapter recreates Rosco’s own screens for that one job, with a task to do, the change on screen, and what it leaves you with. Its figures are proposals.

Give the project a clear home.
Client, dates and address sit on the project overview. File notes and open tasks are one tab away, so whoever picks the job up next starts with the context.
See the fee behind each phase.
Each phase carries its proposed fee and hours, with the hours spent, the hours forecast and the profit beside them. Open a phase and its dates, fee and hours sit together.
Record the choice before it is settled.
The finishes Daniel and Katie are still choosing between are minuted as open items, each with who does what next. Nothing is ordered until it’s agreed.
Issue the schedule on your own template.
By documentation the appliances are chosen. Each item carries its specification, supplier, lead time, cost and approval, and the schedule goes out as a PDF or a Word file on your own letterhead.
Keep the site record as the job runs.
Eighteen months on, the job is on site. Variations carry a number, a date and a cost; defects sit against a location and move from open to resolved. The record is built during construction, not reconstructed after.
Return to the thinking behind it.
Type setback into Universal Search. Back come the planning control, the design minute where it was decided and the file note that followed, each dated. The memory sits with the project, not with one person, so a handover starts from the record.
Run the project. Keep the whole picture.
